Knowing

Posted in Uncategorized by sharpstown on November 7, 2008

Lately it seems I’ve been trapped in a Knowing haze. It’s just my luck that the minute I decide to use the ladies bathroom I can already smell the lingering Knowing scent in the hallway. I remember my aunt giving me the sample during one of those gift promotions. I would spray it on my sister’s Barbie just to piss her off. It lasted for days! Anyway, Estee Lauder describes it as “deep, woody fragrance with a European sensibility. Heady and exciting, it has great style without even trying.” Well, citizens it is anything but.

Fragrance Type: Floral, Woody

Today I decided to wear Eau des Merveilles by Hermes because I haven’t worn it in ages & I miss the woodsy amber scent. Anyway, I came across this comment on Now Smell This.

On September 7, 2006 Kayliana said: I tried this the other day and my man loved it, he loved the freshness and the citrus in it. If he loves it I don’t. I’m looking for fresh in my pantyliners and deodorant, not in my fragrance. I want sex and warmth and yumminess. I never let him go to the fragrance counter for me anymore, we’re just not on the same page in this dept. and that’s okay. But I must admit the elixir sounds like something I’d own in a heartbeat, and I just might let him buy for me!

Hey there! 3 new fragrances by Karl Lagerfeld available @ Colette.

Have Karl Lagerfeld’s spirit with you at all times with this Kapsule collection: three fragrances: Light, Floriental and Woody through which Mr Lagerfeld narrates fragrances and creates a simple and yet luxurious olfactory “wardrobe”. Choose one, two or even the three of them and use following humor or your style for the day.

There there’s Boudicca’s latest creation, Wode. Initially you’re inked with blue spray, but it fades leaving the scent behind. V. interesting! Also @ Colette.

When Wode, Boudicca’s latest fragrance, is sprayed a vibrant cobalt blue mist appears and settles on the skin or clothing. Whether touched or not the “paint” begins to fade and within seconds or minutes disappears completely leaving simply the scent behind. The fragrance opens with herbal spicy, fresh and floral notes. A real visual and olfactory experiment.

Lastly, Stephen Jones and Comme des Garçons @ Colette.

Futuristic and rococo, decorative and innovative, strong and beautiful, whimsical and strange, this is the first collaborative fragrance “du genre”: Stephen Jones and Comme des Garçons, in addition to them collaborating on shows, developped a perfume directed by Stephen Jones and produced by Comme des Garçons: Millinery. Enjoy the scent of “a violet that hits a meteorite”.

Fragrance Finder

Sephora has a new feature on their website that matches fragrances you might like based on your favorite fragrance.  For me Versace Crystal Noir = Givenchy, Amarige & Christian Dior, Pure Poison. Honestly, I’m not a fan of Amarige and I’ve already experimented with Pure Poison. My mother liked Pure Poison so much I just gave her my bottle. That reminds me … I have a sample somewhere. Yay!

Next favorite: Versace Jeans Couture Glam = Dolce & Gabbana, Light Blue; Paris Hilston, Paris Hilton; Nanette Lepor, Nanette Lepor

Ok, I’ve used D&G Light Blue before and it was my scent for over a year. It is lovely. Genius. I’m curious to check out Nanette Lepor. Paris Hilton … PASS!

SEPHORA FRAGRANCE FINDER Have fun!

The Emperor of Scent: Chandler Burr

Every day I look forward to the latest perfume review from NY Times perfume critic, Chandler Burr (my latest obsession). I tend to agree with most of his reviews, especially the one on Dior’s Addict. How I love reading his Scent Notes column. Today I’m picking up his book, THE PERFECT SCENT.
