I Am Tired

Posted in My Favorites by sharpstown on July 30, 2008

I am tired, that is clear,

Because, at certain stage, people have to be tired.

Of what I am tired, I don’t know:

It would not serve me at all to know

Since the tiredness stays just the same.

The wound hurts as it hurts

And not in function of the cause that produced it.

Yes, I am tired,

And ever so slightly smiling

At the tiredness being only this -

In the body a wish for sleep,

In the soul a desire for not thinking

And, to crown all, a luminous transparency

Of the retrospective understanding …

And the one luxury of not now having hopes?

I am intelligent: that’s all.

I have seen much and understood much of what I

have seen.

And there is a certain pleasure even in tiredness

this brings us,

That in the end the head does still serve for

something.

Office Stories 1: Raise

Rodrigo Says: Sabrina Newman submitted an ePAF for a graduate student with an hourly rate of $3,000. She was probably thinking of the overall pay but the fact is that it generated a $120,000.00/biweekly and a $3,132,000.00/year salary for this student. Unfortunately, Lily Winters did not catch this (neither did the approvers outside the college).
I have spoken to the HR rep who approved this ePAF to ensure that this does not happen again. The good thing is that the student has not gotten paid yet as this was just approved this pay period.

Blood & DUIs

Posted in News by sharpstown on July 2, 2008

I heard this on the local Austin news last night. Our police chief wants officers to draw blood on DUIs. Sounds completely unconstitutional to me. Please click here to read and share your thoughts. Chief of Police Art Acevedo

The Rusk Deep Shine & Catwalk Combo.

I’ve been coloring and flat ironing my hair for about a year now and as a result I have extremely dry, dull, and damaged hair. A couple of years ago I used my friend’s shampoo & conditioner (she used to work at Armstrong & McCall and always had cool samples) from the TIGI Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey line. At the time I didn’t color my hair so I didn’t really pay attention to the results, though it did smell delicious! Well, recently I saw that Marshall’s carried the line so I bought the set right away and decided to try it! A night and day difference, I swear! Since I also flat iron my hair on a daily basis, I need some kind of pre-styling serum. That’s where Rusk Deep Shine PhytoMarine Lusterizer comes in. You can apply it on wet or dry hair. I use before I blow dry and after I flat iron. And Voila – strong, beautiful, shiny hair!
